What is the city doing right, and wrong, on gun violence?
There needs to be a greater presence of police interacting with the citizens in a positive way. Every community in Durham should receive the same coverage and protection. Hiring police officers locally builds a better relationship between the police and citizens.
If elected, what would your two or three priorities be during your first year in office?
Housing, Policing and Discrimination
What unique skills or life perspective would you bring to city governance?
Through the Gospel of Christ and Jesus the Only Begotten Son of the Living God the Church, I am helping orphans, digging wells and supplying food to about seven nations. I was a financial analyst with First Citizens Bank & Trust Company for over 35 years. In this position, I managed the equity portfolio for the state of North Carolina. Part of the requirement was to study the national economy and its impact on equity portfolios. My experience in looking at leading and lagging market indicators prepared me to assess economic conditions. Economic policy helps to drive the economy, understand the causes of poverty and also provide solutions. It was those skills that propelled me to vice-chair and chair for economic development for two local organizations.
