This town’s only movie theater is closing very soon. Here’s the last day to see a film
It’s the end of the road for a Triangle movie theater.
Regal Beaver Creek in Apex is closing this week. Thursday, Aug. 1 will be the theater’s last day in operation, two sources told The News & Observer. Regal Cinemas did not respond to multiple requests for confirmation.
The theater’s website does not allow ticket sales for movies on any day past Thursday.
Regal’s cinema, located at the Beaver Creek Crossings shopping center, has been open for more than a decade. After it closes, Apex will not have any remaining movie theaters, and residents will have to drive to another town to see films on the big screen.
This location is one of nearly 40 theaters across the United States that Regal’s parent company, Cineworld Group, planned to close, The N&O previously reported.
Regal’s theaters in Cary, Garner and Raleigh’s North Hills and Brier Creek areas remain open.
What will replace Regal Beaver Creek?
Onelife Fitness, a company that operates more than 50 sports clubs across four states along the East Coast and Washington, D.C., is taking over the space in Apex, Onelife confirmed in a July news release.
“We are extremely excited to become a part of the Apex community and begin growing in the Raleigh area,” Onelife Fitness CEO Ori Gorfine said in the release. “We recognized that Apex is an extraordinary community and needs a comprehensive fitness and wellness offering at affordable rates.”
The company will remodel the movie theater and expects to open in 2025.
Apex’s Onelife Fitness, to be located at 1441 Beaver Creek Commons Drive, will include a variety of amenities:
- An indoor saltwater pool, whirlpool and cold plunge
- More than $1 million worth of cardio and strength equipment
- Four studios for classes such as BodyPump, Zumba, APEX-HIIT and Spark
- Mind/Body Studio to host barre, yoga and Pilates classes
- Spin studio with Coach by Color bikes
- Boxing studio
- Strength training area with Olympic lifting platforms and free weights
- Functional athletic turf training areas
- 3,000-square-feet of outdoor training space
- Kids Club with interactive games, basketball and a kids movie theater
- Recovery Studio with HydroMassage, red light therapy and Normatec Compression Equipment
- Spa-inspired locker rooms and sauna
With the Beaver Creek Commons location, Onelife Fitness is investing $10 million in the community and expects to create more than 100 jobs.
