In August, Wendell Mayor Virginia Gray decided against ordering a mask mandate like some other Wake County towns. Do you agree with this decision?
No, masks are a simple, effective way to reduce the spread of COVID-19 which local leaders should help to promote.
What is Wendell doing right, and wrong, on managing growth?
Wendell has developed strong plans for the street, sidewalk, stormwater, and park improvements. Those plans need to be fully funded and regularly updated.
Wendell should do more to promote walkable, mixed-use development as part of our growth strategy in coming years. This can be accomplished through the Comprehensive Plan update that is currently underway.
If elected, what would your two or three priorities be during your first year in office?
1) Support funding for our infrastructure improvement plans, additional parks and trails, and town staff.
2) Begin implementation of the Blueprint Wendell 2030 Comprehensive Plan; Wendell’s first comprehensive plan update since 2007.
3) Build strong, working relationships with other elected officials in Wendell and Wake County.
What unique skills or life perspective would you bring to city governance?
I have a strong interest in identifying compromises that bridge differing opinions and perspectives. I will bring this same approach to serving as a town commissioner.
