A Zaxbys fan favorite is back, but it won’t stick around.

Southern fried shrimp returned to menus Monday, March 3, for a limited time at participating Zaxbys restaurants nationwide, according to the Georgia-based chicken chain.

The “nautical” offering was introduced last year, marking a first for the chain best known for its fried chicken “fingerz” and crinkle fries.

Like its chicken strips, Zaxbys’ southern fried shrimp are seasoned with a blend of pepper, garlic and onion powders, dipped in buttermilk and fried.

“We’ve applied the same signature breading and seasoning that have made our Fingerz famous for 35 years to our new shrimp offerings,” Patrick Schwing, chief marketing and strategy officer at Zaxbys, said in a release.

This year, customers can toss their shrimp in a buffalo garlic blaze sauce or have them alongside a trio of chicken fingers in the new “ZaxSeas” surf and turf box, according to the restaurant.

Other meal options include:

  • Southern fried shrimp meal: Eight butterflied shrimp served with Zaxtail sauce, crinkle fries, Texas Toast and a drink.
  • Asian Zensation Zalad with southern fried shrimp: Southern fried shrimp on a bed of mixed greens, red cabbage, carrots, Asian slaw, crispy wontons and drizzled with honey sesame teriyaki sauce. The salad also comes with a veggie egg roll.

Southern fried shrimp will be available through April, the restaurant said. Pricing may vary by location.
