A Whataburger fan favorite is back on the menu alongside a few new flavors.

The Monterey Melt returned Tuesday, Jan. 7, ending a three-year hiatus, according to the Texas-based burger chain. It’s one of two “OG menu items” making a comeback as Whataburger kicks off its 75th anniversary.

“You begged for it on Reddit, slid into our DMs on Insta, and flooded the timeline with throwback pics of this melty icon,” the restaurant said in a news release.

The sandwich — made with two grilled beef patties topped with Monterey Jack and American cheeses, grilled peppers and onions, and a jalapeño ranch sauce — was last offered in 2022, Whataburger said.

Customers can order it alongside the chicken fajita taco, which also returned to menus Tuesday. It includes strips of grilled chicken breast mingled with seared onions, poblano and red peppers in a soft flour taco, according to a product description.

Both are available for a limited time, though Whataburger didn’t say for how long.

Fans will also find two new drink options on the menu: Mexican hot chocolate coffee (available iced or hot) and the Mexican hot chocolate shake, according to the release.

Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.
