A popular retailer known for selling on-trend clothing, accessories, shoes and other items at lower prices is expanding in the Triangle.

Nordstrom Rack, the sister brand of Seattle-based department store Nordstrom, will open a new store in Northeast Raleigh’s Triangle Town Place this fall.

The shopping center, located near Triangle Town Center mall (on Sumner Boulevard off Capital Boulevard) is also home to DSW, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Party City. Nordstrom Rack will be located in a 32,000-square-foot space.

This will be the first Nordstrom Rack for Raleigh but not for the Triangle or North Carolina. The retailer already has locations in Durham and Charlotte, and two more stores are planned to open in Mooresville and Matthews, near Charlotte, in fall 2024 and spring 2025, respectively.

“Nordstrom Rack is a welcome addition to Triangle Town Place and further enhances the center’s position as a preeminent shopping destination in Northeast Raleigh,” Michael Weil, CEO of Global Net Lease, Inc., which owns and manages the shopping center, said in a news release.

Customers will be able to return and pick up online orders from Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack at the Triangle Town Place store.

“We’re excited to grow our footprint in these regions and introduce new customers to the Nordstrom experience,” Gemma Lionello, the president of Nordstrom Rack Stores, said in a news release.

Nordstrom Rack sells apparel, accessories, beauty items, home decor and shoes from many of the brands sold at Nordstrom, but at prices up to 70% off.

The first Nordstrom Rack opened in 1973, as a clearance center in the downtown Seattle Nordstrom. The first stand-alone store for the brand opened in 1983 in Oregon.
