It hasn’t been long since Oakwood Pizza Box started offering its signature pies in a new takeout spot in Raleigh, and it’s already proving to be a popular spot for local pizza lovers — even on a budget.
The new pizza joint is called Capital Pizza Box, a nod to the Wake Forest Road space that was the longtime home to Capital Creations Gourmet Pizza, The News & Observer previously reported. Capital Pizza Box opened Aug. 6.
Though it’s a new name, the takeout pizzeria is offering the same New York-style pies as the original location, most of which are under $25.
On the menu, there are multiple pizza options and salads:

- Cheese pizza: $21
- White pie: $22
- 50/50 half red, half white: $22
- White gluten-free pizza: $19
- Gluten-free red sauce pizza: $18

When it comes to pizza, I’m in for any and every flavor, so I love when I get to mix it up with a taste of multiple flavors. Thanks to the half and half option, I got to do just that.
Sticking to our usual $25 for the “On A Budget” series, I even got to spice it up with free garlic, basil and ricotta for an additional $1 charge, bringing the final total to $24.90 for a box of eight giant Brooklyn-style slices.
Capital Pizza Box menu, location and hours
Aside from garlic, ricotta and basil, there are several other meats and veggies you can top off your pizza with, including pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, olives and more. But it all varies by price.
Right now, Capital Pizza Box is only open during evening hours, from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday, but owners say those hours may expand in the coming weeks, as earlier reported by The N&O.
Capital Pizza Box is located at 1842 Wake Forest Road in Raleigh.
After gaining such a big foodie fanbase on Person Street in Oakwood, with long lines of customers waiting for orders, the owners are happy to have more parking and space available at the new takeout spot. Plus, like the Oakwood location, you can also order Capital Pizza Box pies for delivery through DoorDash.
“We never thought Oakwood Pizza Box would be so busy that every day is a traffic event,” owner Anthony Guerra said in a release. “We just want our customers to be able to easily grab a pizza to go. With this expansion, we’re hoping it can come true.”
