Sweetgreen, which launched in Washington, D.C. in 2007, has more than 250 locations across the United States. It is expanding throughout North Carolina and plans to open two additional locations in the Charlotte area, at Birkdale Village and Plaza Midwood.

According to a company news release from earlier in May, Sweetgreen has plans to open at least 40 new restaurants across the U.S. this year.

Sweetgreen menu

The chain’s menu focuses on salads and warm grain bowls, featuring always-available options and seasonal additions. Sweetgreen offers vegetarian and gluten-free meals, and diners can customize their meal.

The brand aims to pursue sustainable practices by sourcing local, regenerative and organic ingredients as much as possible.

Besides salads and bowls, Sweetgreen offers protein plates as entrees and serves sides such as freshly baked focaccia, roasted sweet potatoes and ripple fries.

Salads, bowls and protein plates cost around $13-$17 each.
