Triangle restaurant gets ‘B’ for white mold growing on food: Sanitation scores (Feb. 11)
The News & Observer publishes a weekly roundup of restaurant sanitation scores to keep you up-to-date on the health grades at Triangle dining spots.
Sanitation scores and their corresponding letter grades are used in North Carolina to assess restaurants’ adherence to rules and standards intended to mitigate and prevent the spread of food-borne illnesses.
You’ve likely seen sanitation grade cards at restaurants you’ve visited, and The N&O previously explained what those scores mean and how they’re calculated.
Here are sanitation scores in Triangle counties for the week of Feb. 4-10.
Wake County sanitation scores
The Wake County inspection management system shows that 122 restaurant inspections were completed Feb. 4-10.
Most restaurants received an A grade, or a score of at least 90%.
One restaurant received a B grade, or a score of at least 80% but lower than 90%.
Sheraton Raleigh Kitchen/Jimmy V’s Osteria (421 S. Salisbury St. in Raleigh) received a score of 88% during an inspection on Thursday, Feb. 6.
The restaurant was in violation of 16 standards.
Violations included several lids and utensils stored as clean in multiple dish tubs with residue and debris, plus foods in the main kitchen’s front area prep units holding too warm, including heavy cream, unsalted butter, liquid eggs and sausage egg croissants.
Some violations were corrected during the inspection.
The restaurant previously scored 90% in July 2024 and 93.5% in January 2024.
Note: The inspection records for Sheraton Raleigh Kitchen/Jimmy V’s Osteria listed the address as 421 S. Salisbury St. but the restaurant’s website says it is located at 420 Fayetteville St.

Durham County sanitation scores
The Durham County inspection management system shows 40 restaurant inspections were completed Feb. 4-10.
Most restaurants received an A grade.
Two restaurants received a B grade.
Mi Pequeño Honduras 2 (108 Clayton Rd Suite B in Durham) received a score of 88% during an inspection on Thursday, Feb. 6.
The restaurant was in violation of 18 standards.
Violations included significant white mold growing on sliced ham in a cooler, cleaned dishes stored on raw meat and poultry prep sinks to dry and avocados being cut without being washed.
Some violations were corrected during the inspection.
The restaurant previously scored 90.5% in October 2024.
Courtyard by Marriott (1815 Front St in Durham) received a score of 88% during an inspection on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The restaurant was in violation of 16 standards.
Violations included some pans found with food residue in the clean dish area, no hand soap at kitchen handsink and salsa and turkey in the make line of the kitchen found out of appropriate temperature.
Some violations were corrected during the inspection. The restaurant was inspected again on Thursday, Feb. 6 and scored 96%.
The restaurant previously scored 96% in July 2024 and 97% in April 2024.

Orange County sanitation scores
The Orange County inspection management system shows that 25 restaurant inspections were completed Feb. 4-10.
All restaurants received an A grade.

Johnston County sanitation scores
The Johnston County inspection management system shows that 35 restaurant inspections were completed Feb. 4-10.

Chatham County sanitation scores
The Chatham County inspections management system shows that five restaurant inspections were completed Feb. 4-10.
Most restaurants received an A grade.
One restaurant received a B grade.
Gov’s Fusion Cantina (50050 Governors Dr. in Chapel Hill) received a score of 84% during an inspection on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The restaurant was in violation of 18 standards.
Violations included thawing fish and meat in the prep sink stored next to ready to fruits and vegetables, several wet wiping cloths laying around food prep areas and “chicken juice” spilled in the walk-in cooler.
Some violations were corrected during the inspection.
The restaurant previously scored 95.5% in July 2024 and 96.5% in April 2024.
