Government offices, businesses and restaurants around the Triangle have modified their hours with Tuesday, Jan. 21’s snowfall.
By Wednesday, Jan. 22 morning, the National Weather Service’s map of snow accumulation reports showed about 1 inch in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, about 1.5 inches in Cary and 2 inches in Wendell that a weather watcher “measured on a snowboard,” The News & Observer previously reported.
If you’re planning on visiting government offices or parks, use this list, which will be updated, to make sure they’re open before heading out.
Local government offices and services delays/closures
▪ Town of Apex facilities, including offices, the community center, senior center, Halle Cultural Arts Center and parks, will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 23.
▪ Durham city facilities will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 23.
▪ Durham County Library locations open at 11 a.m. Jan. 23.
▪ Durham County offices will open at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 23.
▪ Town of Holly Springs offices and facilities, including Town Hall and the Hunt and Cultural Centers, plan to open at 8 a.m. Jan. 23. Parks and recreation facilities are expected to open at 8 a.m. Jan. 23.
▪ Franklin County government offices will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 23.
▪ Garner town offices and facilities will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23. Parks will remain closed until further notice.
▪ The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration in Wake Forest, originally scheduled for Jan. 23, has been rescheduled to Jan. 30.
▪ Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources facilities will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 22 and resume at noon Jan. 23.
▪ The City of Sanford’s administrative offices open at 11 a.m. Jan. 23.
▪ Wake County facilities will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 23.
▪ Northern Wake Senior Center and Meals on Wheels in Wake Forest will open Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.
▪ The Zebulon Parks & Recreation Department Community Center will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 23.

Triangle curbside trash and recycling collection
Apex: Trash and recycling will not be collected on Jan. 22. Routes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be delayed by one day.
Cary: Curbside collection is canceled Jan. 22 and will resume Jan. 23. Tuesday’s collection will be Jan. 23, Wednesday’s will be Jan. 24, and Thursday’s will be Saturday, Jan. 25.
Chapel Hill: Solid Waste services are canceled Jan. 22. Yard trimming collections for Jan. 23 are canceled.
Durham: Curbside collections are canceled Jan. 22. The Waste Disposal & Recycling Center is closed Jan. 22.
Garner: Residents should place trash and recycling carts at the curb on their regular collection day, but weather will likely affect collection times.
Holly Springs: GFL will not collect garbage or recycling Jan. 22. Collection is delayed one day for the rest of the week.
Morrisville: Garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be collected Jan. 22. All collections by GFL are pushed back one day.
Orange County: Solid Waste Facilities are closed Jan. 22, and there will be no recycling.
Raleigh: Solid Waste Servicesand the Yard Waste Center have suspended operations for Jan. 22.The Yard Waste Center will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 23, and Solid Waste Services will resume operations at 10 a.m. Jan. 23, weather permitting.
Sanford: Leaf, limb and bulk trash collection will resume regular operation. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday collections are each delayed one day.
Wake County: Solid Waste facilities open at noon Jan. 22.
Wake Forest: Curbside trash and recycling collections are canceled Jan. 22. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routes will be collected a day later.
Triangle transportation
GoRaleigh and GoRaleigh Access will start service at 8 a.m. Jan. 23.
The Morrisville Smart Shuttle will not run Jan. 22. It will resume service at 10 a.m. Jan. 23.
Go Wake Forest will resume its normal schedule Thursday, Jan. 23.
The downtown Apex shuttle will begin at 11 a.m. Jan. 23.
GoTriangle, the Regional Transit System, will suspend service at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 and will start at noon Jan. 23.

Triangle business & restaurant closures
Barnes & Noble at Village District in Raleigh will not open at its regular time Jan. 22. A new opening time has not been announced, as of 8:30 a.m. Jan. 22.
Beatniks at Raleigh Iron Works opens at noon Jan. 22.
Weaver Street Market stores will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 22.
Will & Well Salads at Boxyard RTP is closed Jan. 22.
Woofinwaggle at Lafayette Village in Raleigh is closed Jan. 22.
YMCA facilities in Wake, Durham, Chapel Hill, Chatham, Johnston and Lee counties are closed Jan. 22.

Triangle school system delays/closures

Wake County schools are closed Jan. 23 due to inclement weather. Athletic and extracurricular events on Thursday are canceled.
Durham Public Schools are closed Jan. 23. It’s an optional remote workday for staff.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will have a remote learning day Jan. 23. Friday, Jan. 24 is a teacher workday, and there will be no school for students.
Chatham County Schools will be closed Jan. 23. It is a remote learning day for students.
Orange County Schools will be closed Jan. 23. Monday, Jan. 27 and Tuesday, Jan. 28 will be regular school days.
Johnston County Schools will be closed Jan. 23. It will be a snow day, not a remote learning day, unlike the remote learning day on Jan. 22. A makeup day will be announced later.
Colleges and universities
N.C. State Universitycanceled classes between 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 and 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23. The Wolfline will run as road conditions and staffing allows, and you can check its schedule online. The university has suspended operations with only mandatory operations functioning.
Wake Tech campuses are closed Jan. 23. In-person classes are canceled, but online classes will continue as scheduled. Many services are available virtually, and many Wake Tech employees may work remotely.
Durham Tech is operating on Yellow Status for all operations Jan. 22 and Jan. 23, meaning employees will work remotely, except for essential personal and classes that can meet remotely.
