Lottery player can retire sooner than expected after winning top SC prize on work break
It’s a win one South Carolina man didn’t expect during his work break.
That’s because the man, whose name wasn’t shared publicly, scratched a $10 lottery ticket on his break and won $300,000, according to the SC Education Lottery.
“I didn’t believe it,” he said in a Nov. 16 news release. “I’m putting the money away for more comfortable living.”
The man, who lives in Pee Dee, still plans on working but said he can retire sooner than expected, lottery officials said.
He bought the ticket at the AA Food Store on TV Road in Florence, according to the lottery service.
The seller of the ticket received a commission of $3,000, lottery officials said.
The odds of winning the top prize in the $300,000 Stacks of Money game are 1 in 780,000, according to the lottery service. Four more top prizes are still not claimed.
