Political party: Republican
Age as of Nov. 5, 2024: 58
Campaign website: markharrisforcongress.org
Current occupation: Pastor
Professional experience: I have pastored churches in North Carolina and Georgia for just over 35 years. I’ve been blessed to oversee significant growth at Center Grove Baptist in Clemmons, NC, as well as streamlining educational structures at Curtis Baptist in Augusta, Georgia. As the senior pastor at First Baptist Charlotte, despite economic downturns, I helped spearhead efforts that revitalized the church’s infrastructure without incurring debt.
Education: B.S. in Political Science from Appalachian State University Master’s of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degree in Christian Leadership from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Please list any notable government or civic involvement. Whether it’s been through our work at the church, serving on the board of pregnancy care centers, working to support law enforcement, or the numerous other non- profits I’ve had the pleasure of serving alongside, I have been a voice for families in this region for over a decade. I’m now ready to go to Congress and use that platform to continue to be a voice in Washington for those same people.
What would be your top priority if elected?
To represent the people of North Carolina’s 8th district.
How would you describe the state of the economy and what would you do to improve it?
Our economy is in shambles due to the disastrous policies from this current administration. Families can’t afford basic living expenses due to the rising costs or groceries, gas, and housing. We need to eliminate wasteful government spending thus decreasing the burden on hardworking taxpayers, reduce burdensome regulations on businesses, and increase drilling here in America to bring down gas prices.
What should Congress do to ensure that it meets its deadline to fund the government?
We simply cannot continue to spend at the levels we’re seeing in Washington. Out of control deficits will only lead to more inflation and eventually a total collapse. We need to have a balanced budget that fully funds our military as well as other essential federal obligations and cuts unnecessary pet projects that promote the Woke Agenda of the left.
Will you certify the results of the presidential election?
Absolutely. I will proudly vote to certify the results of any election that was conducted fairly and legally.
Is there an issue on which you disagree with your party? What is your position on that issue?
As a delegate to the 2024 North Carolina Republican Convention, I voted for our platform and proudly stand by it.
