Puppy gets stuck in sewer line for hours. Here’s how rescuers used cameras to save her
A Texas utility said workers spent hours rescuing a puppy that got stuck in a sewer line.
The puppy was outside playing near her home in San Antonio with other puppies when three of them fell into a sewer line, KSAT reported. The San Antonio Fire Department was able to pull out two but couldn’t get the third one.
Crews from the San Antonio Water System used “televising cameras” to rescue her, according to a post from the department on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The puppy, who was later named Damsel, can be seen on video obtained by WOAI inside the sewer system walking through water, shivering.
“Come to the light… She’s scared,” rescuers can be heard saying in the video.
After about eight hours, rescuers were able to pull the puppy to safety, KSAT reported. Crews at the scene gave her the nickname Pipa, which means “pipe” in Spanish.
In the video, Damsel can be seen being pulled up in a bucket, after crews used equipment to nudge her out of the pipe.
The puppy was picked up by the San Antonio Animal Care Services to be checked out, according to the X post.
