The body of a crabber who fell into a canal in Louisiana was recovered by authorities.

On April 13, a man was crabbing off a bridge before witnesses say they heard a splash and saw he had fallen into the water, according to a news release from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Around 10:30 a.m., members of the sheriff’s office’s Marine Division were called to the canal in the Lacombe area about 48 miles north of New Orleans, deputies said.

The man’s body was located just after 11 a.m. that day about 40 feet away from where he had fallen, according to the release.
