Her brother buys her a Michigan lottery ticket every birthday — this year she won big
For years, a Michigan brother has gifted his sister a lottery ticket for her birthday.
The 68-year-old woman told Michigan Lottery that she’s happy even when she wins $20, so this year she had extra reason to celebrate.
“I scratched the ticket, and when I saw I won $1 million, I was in complete shock,” she told lottery officials. The woman chose to remain anonymous, but her story was told by Michigan Lottery in a Dec. 16 news release.
“ ... winning a $1 million prize is an amazing feeling,” she said.
Lottery officials say the winning Jumbo Cash instant game ticket was bought at Parkway Foods at 11250 East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit.
When claiming her prize, the woman chose to receive a “one-time lump sum of about $634,000 rather than annuity payments totaling $1 million,” according to the news release.
With her winnings, she said she plans to buy a new car and share some of newfound cash with her family.
