Groomer pins 4-pound dog with body weight, leading pet to be euthanized, Ohio cops say

A groomer is accused of pinning a 4-pound dog to a metal table, leading its owner to euthanize the pet, Ohio cops say.

Lacey, a 13-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, was dropped off by the pet groomer after an appointment last month, and her owner immediately noticed problems, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. The dog was whimpering, falling over and unable to walk, police say.

The owner took Lacey to an emergency veterinarian, who determined the dog was suffering from blunt force trauma to the head, neck and shoulder bruising, and seven broken ribs, which caused lung injuries, police say.

The owner was forced to euthanize her dog because of the extensive injuries.

The sheriff’s office says the groomer pinned the small dog with full body weight to a grooming table, and bruising to the pet’s neck and shoulder likely was caused from a leash used to keep it still.

Andra Edison, a 51-year-old Madison Township resident, was charged with animal cruelty, a misdemeanor.

“It’s scary to think you drop your dog off to be groomed and she comes back in such a condition you have to have her euthanized,” Sheriff Richard Jones said in a news release. “That’s when we step in to make sure the person responsible faces a judge.”
