Bank robber demands cash because he didn’t get COVID-19 stimulus check, Texas cops say
A bank robber demanded cash because he didn’t get a COVID-19 stimulus check, Texas police say.
The masked robbery suspect slipped a piece of notebook paper to a teller at the Woodforest National Bank in Houston last week, according to the Houston Police Department. The teller unfolded the paper and read the note.
“I didn’t get a stimulus or that 10k loan. I lost my business to Covid so please make this easy and comply,” the note said. “I don’t wanna hurt nobody but will if I have to.”
Though the robber didn’t display a gun, the teller feared for her life, police say.
“Any suspicious moves and I will start shooting so please go get my money,” the note said. “Don’t make anything noticeable!”
The teller handed over cash, and the robber ran away. Police didn’t release the amount of money stolen.
There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to the wanted man’s arrest.
