The granola on the pouch might not be the granola inside. Serious problems can ensue

The packaging goofup at Purely Elizabeth that caused a granola recall can be an amusing annoyance to most people, but a very dangerous situation for those with a tree nut allergy.

As described by Purely Elizabeth, “briefly during production, pouches of Chocolate Sea Salt Probiotic Granola were used to package Maple Walnut Probiotic Granola.

That’s a problem as the latter kind of granola has walnuts, which is an allergen.

“People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts, specifically walnuts, run the risk of experiencing a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” Purely Elizabeth states.

This covers 8-ounce pouches of Chocolate Sea Salt Probiotic Granola with a best by date of 10/21/2020.

Those with questions or wanting to get a replacement pouch can email support@purelyelizabeth.com. Those with questions who prefer to call can phone 720-242-7525, ext. 106, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Eastern time.
