Raleigh shooting victim dies, and suspected killer is charged with murder
A man has been charged with murder after a shooting victim died in a Raleigh hospital over the weekend.
Christopher Fitzgerald Branch, 60, was identified by police on Dec. 14 as the person who died.
The Raleigh Police Department charged Glenn Levon Strickland, a 46-year-old from Clayton, with murder.
Branch walked into Wake Med around 10:16 p.m. Dec. 12 seriously hurt from a gunshot wound.
In an arrest warrant, police say Strickland shot a 9 mm handgun into a Lexus on Mangum Street, a residential street in south Raleigh.
It’s unclear whether Branch was inside that vehicle, but another person was, the court records state.
Police haven’t shared why Strickland is a suspect, but a news release said he was “taken into custody a short time later.”
Strickland is also charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and one count each of possession of firearm by a felon, discharging a weapon into occupied property, and discharging a firearm in the city.
Strickland is being held without bail and has a court appearance scheduled for Monday afternoon, according to court records.
