A memorial service has been set for the three Duke Life Flight crew members and the patient they were transporting who died in a helicopter crash.
The service for Kris Harrison, R.N., Crystal Sollinger, R.N., pilot Jeff Burke and patient Mary Bartlett will be held Wednesday in Duke Chapel from 1-2 p.m., according to a news release. They all died on Sept. 8 when their Duke Life Flight helicopter crashed during a return trip from the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City in Perquimans County. The helicopter went down near Belvidere, close to the Virginia border and about 160 miles east of Raleigh.
A special tribute also is planned in the quad in front of Duke Chapel at the conclusion of the service.
A memorial wall at Duke Medicine Pavilion has been set up and will remain in place until after Wednesday’s service. People are invited to write messages of condolence on it, the news release said.
