An out-of-state furniture chain that has been quickly expanding in North Carolina is planning another location in the Triangle.

Bob’s Discount Furniture, based in Connecticut, signed a lease for a 34,070-square-foot space in Raleigh, according to a news release from Dallas-based real estate firm CBRE, which represented landlord Finmarc in the deal.

The store will be located in a former Big Lots at Capital Marketplace, a shopping center near Capital Boulevard and Interstate 540 anchored by BJ’s Wholesale Club, Burlington and LA Fitness. The indoor miniature golf venue ParTee Shack opened earlier this year.

“Big box inventory across the Triangle is extremely tight, and we had significant interest in this space,” CBRE’s Jon Stanley said in the news release. “Capital Marketplace’s location on Capital Boulevard, one of the busiest retail corridors in the region, makes it a prime destination for retailers looking to capture strong suburban demand.”

Bob’s Discount Furniture’s first Raleigh store will be at 3340 Cypress Plantation Trail. An opening date was not included in the news release.

The News & Observer reached out to the furniture company for more information.

Founded in 1991, Bob’s Discount Furniture sells pieces for bedrooms — including mattresses — living rooms, dining rooms, entryways, offices and outdoor spaces, along with home decor and rugs.

Furniture chain growing in NC

The furniture company formally opened two Triangle locations in October — a 33,839-square-foot location at Cary’s Crossroads Plaza and a store at Patterson Place in Durham.

These locations are in addition to the North Carolina stores in Fayetteville, Winston-Salem, Wilmington and Jacksonville.

The company has more than 200 stores across 26 states and brings in more than $2 billion annually in sales, it said. Each of its stores includes a cafe with complimentary coffee, ice cream, cookies and candy.
