Grocery stores and retailers in North Carolina are cutting prices on hundreds of items this summer, as concerns over food prices remain common across the country.

Wegmans, Walgreens and Aldi have all announced discounts on items such as meat, produce, pantry staples and sun care products.

“We know our customers are looking for ways to make their time and money go further this summer,” Tracey D. Brown, the executive vice president and president of Walgreens Retail and chief customer officer, said in a news release.

Grocery prices in 2024 were 1.2% higher than in 2023. Despite that, data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows the rate of grocery price increases has been slowing since 2022.

A recent Pew Research Center survey found that 62% of U.S. adults say how much food costs is “extremely” or “very” important when deciding which food to get.

Here’s what to know about finding cheaper food and seasonal products in North Carolina this summer.
