2 new businesses, including a bike store/coffee shop, to open at this Raleigh development

“Library” is in its name, but the new business coming to a luxury residential building in Raleigh has nothing to do with books.

The Bike Library, which is set to open this spring at Platform Apartments, near downtown Raleigh’s Union Station, marries cycling and coffee, not bikes and books.

It’s one of two tenants recently announced for the building at 600 W. Cabarrus St., one of Kane Realty’s latest projects.

Founded by Cameron Zamot, The Bike Library began as a rental service operating out of a converted shipping container on NC State’s campus. The container now sits on the shore of Lake Raleigh alongside the Walnut Creek Greenway.

“If you take a bike shop and a coffee shop and mash them together, you get The Bike Library,” Zamot said in a news release. “We want to create an accessible and unintimidating place where people can connect, watch repairs happen in real-time and simply enjoy being part of a community.”

The permanent retail spot will offer refurbished bikes, bike repairs and coffee from The Left Hook Coffee. It fills a gap created last year when the bike shop Cycle Logic, located at 1211 Hillsborough St., closed after five decades.

Here’s what else is coming to Platform, located in Raleigh’s “West End.”

Nail salon opening this summer in downtown Raleigh

Mood Raleigh, a nail salon currently at 8490 Honeycutt Road in North Raleigh, will open summer 2025 at Platform.

The salon specializes in manicures and nail art.

Jennifer Pham, the salon’s owner and founder, has more than 13 years of experience in the industry.

“At Mood Raleigh, it’s about more than just nails — it’s about creating an experience where every client feels seen, cared for, and empowered,” Pham said in a news release.

Homebody Yoga, a woman-owned studio offering vinyasa yoga, massage, life coaching and Reiki, previously opened in a 2,500-square-foot space at Platform, The News & Observer previously reported.

Retailers including the local favorite Benchwarmers Bagels and a fitness studio have been announced for another Kane mixed-use development, Rockway Raleigh, adjacent to Dorothea Dix Park.
