A fast-growing chain specializing in freshly baked bagels and coffee is expanding to its first Raleigh location.

Jeff’s Bagel Run, which was started by a couple in Florida who missed New York-style bagels, will open a new Triangle store soon.

Located near Crabtree mall, the store is owned by franchisee Ryan McEvoy, who is also behind the Wake Forest and forthcoming Rolesville locations.

The shop is in the Glenlake development, next to Wong’s Tacos and across Edwards Mill from Crooked Hammock, which is still under construction. It’s a high-traffic area near offices and residences, McEvoy told The News & Observer in a call.

Jeff’s Bagel Run menu

Jeff’s Bagel Run prides itself on its fresh bagels, baked throughout the day.

“We do not even toast bagels at our store because our goal is to focus on getting hot bagels out of the oven,” McEvoy said. “Nothing beats a fresh, hot bagel right out of the oven.”

At the Wake Forest location, a few top sellers are the everything, asiago everything, jalapeño cheddar and cinnamon sugar varieties. Jeff’s Bagel Run uses beans by Otus Coffee, a company it acquired a couple of years ago, to make drinks including banana bread and cinnamon vanilla lattes. Other top sellers, which were introduced in January, are the protein coffee drinks.

Spreads and whipped butters are made in house. Jeff’s Bagel Run offers a variety of sweet and savory options such as banana pudding, brown sugar cinnamon, chive and onion, plain, roasted jalapeño, strawberry and vegetable. A handful of vegan options are also available.

Single bagels are sold for $2.50 on the Jeff’s Bagel Run app, and a spread to go with it is an additional $2.25.

Cold brew coffees and iced lattes, espresso and coffee range $3-$7. Hot versions cost $3-$5.

Expected to open in March or April at 4251 Parklake Ave., Jeff’s Bagel Run is one of the newer bagel spots to make the Triangle their home. Raleigh has Benchwarmers, a growing local brand, and New York’s H&H just landed in Chapel Hill, with more locations on the way.

From phone repair to bagels

This is not McEvoy’s first business venture. He formerly owned a dozen uBreakiFix stores across Chicago and New York and is longtime friends with the phone repair company’s founder, Justin Wetherill.

McEvoy sold his uBreakiFix stores several years ago but later decided he wanted to get involved with Jeff’s Bagel Run, where Wetherill now works as president.

“Rather than do it on my own, I’d rather do it with a group of friends and build a brand with friends, like we did in the past,” McEvoy said.
