This popular doughnut chain will open 2 new Raleigh locations soon

An influx of caffeine and sugar is coming soon to one Raleigh street.

Dunkin’, the popular doughnut chain known for its coffee drinks as much as its fried, sugary treats, is expanding its Triangle footprint this year.

Two new locations of the Massachusetts-based company are expected to open this fall along Capital Boulevard in northeast Raleigh, a public relations representative that works with Dunkin’ told The News & Observer in an email.

Here’s what we know about the new stores.

Where and when will the new Dunkin’ locations open?

The location at 3901 Capital Blvd. will open in late September. It is a new building being constructed atop the parking lot near Capital Boulevard.

The location at 4506 Capital Blvd. will open this fall. The site formerly housed a Wings & Turkey Bar-B-Q restaurant.

There are several existing Dunkin’ locations in the area, including at 4415 Falls of Neuse Road and 5601 Atlantic Ave.

Both new stores, each around 2,100 square feet, will have a drive-thru and can seat 20-25 people in the indoor dining room.

Around 25-30 people will be hired at each location.

The cafes are identified as “next generation” stores, which means they feature a modern design, energy efficiency, a tap system for dispensing cold coffees and teas, and a mobile pickup area.

Dunkin’ announced a rebrand in 2018, shortening its name from Dunkin’ Donuts.

Dunkin’ collaborations with NC celebrities

Dunkin’ may not have the North Carolina roots that doughnut chains Krispy Kreme and Duck Donuts have, but that hasn’t stopped the company from getting involved with local celebrities.

In 2021, Dunkin’ created a doughnut in honor of then-UNC men’s basketball coach Roy Williams. The limited-time “Ol Roy” was a chocolate-frosted Boston Crème filled with custard and laced with a Carolina blue frosting.

More recently, the octogenarian Carol Chapman, a Raleigh TikTok star known as Grandma C, reviewed a Dunkin’ specialty iced coffee drink named for Sabrina Carpenter and received 1 million loyalty points from the chain. That’s enough for 2,000 hot or iced coffees.
