A popular fast-casual Korean BBQ restaurant opens new Triangle location this week
A fast-casual Korean restaurant will expand this week with a new Wake County location.
The new Bibibop Asian Grill will open its second Triangle location on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 535 Dr. Calvin Jones Highway, Suite 140 in Wake Forest.
The first Triangle Bibibop opened in 2022 in Cary’s Crossroads Plaza shopping center.
The pair of Bibibop locations are the only two in North Carolina for the Ohio-based brand with more than 70 restaurants across the country. Bibibop was founded by Charley Shin, the founder of Charley’s Cheesesteaks.
The new Wake Forest Bibibop joins the Grove 98 development, which has already assembled a collection of popular fast casual brands. Grove 98 includes Torchy’s Tacos, Dave’s Hot Chicken and a Five Guys.
Bibibop’s name plays on the Korean barbecue dish bibimbap and the restaurant’s menu is built around customizeable rice bowls. Some of the options include beef bulgogi, spicy chicken and miso-glazed salmon; bases of purple rice or bright lemon turmeric rice; pickled toppings, sauces and the option of a sunny-side up egg.
The grand opening is Jan. 8 at 11 a.m. Throughout the first day, 50 diners will be randomly selected for free Bibibop for a year, plus other giveaways.
Also during opening day, military members and veterans, teachers, first responders and medical workers will receive one free bowl for in-store dining.
