The location of Roman-style pizzeria Coronato is revealed
Chef Teddy Diggs, who left fine dining Italian at Il Palio this year, has revealed where he will open his new pizzeria.
Coronato will open in the new South Green development, which is under construction in Carrboro.
Diggs left Il Palio to open his first solo venture, a Roman-style pizza shop.
He hopes for a spring opening, joining other South Green ventures — Craftboro Brewery and Atlas Taco Bar, as well as a Montessori school.
Last month, Diggs hinted on social media about where he planned to open, saying the city started with “C,” suggesting it might find a home in Chapel Hill, Cary or Carrboro.
Diggs is modeling his pies after a cracker-thin style found in Rome and has been workshopping his recipes in a series of pop ups around the Triangle. The pop-ups will continue, he said in a news release, while the 45,000-square-foot development continues to be built at 501 S. Greensboro St.
