March 31 update: More Broadway shows are coming to DPAC this year. The updated 2026-27 schedule

Feuding witches, helpful robots, singing WWII pilots and, of course, dashing phantoms will be at the center of some of the most highly sought-after shows in Durham this year.

The new Broadway at DPAC lineup was announced on Saturday, Feb. 28, and there are some pretty big hits headed this way. The slate of shows includes newer musicals and Tony Award winners, along with classics that top many theatergoers’ bucket lists.

The 2026-27 season starts with “Buena Vista Social Club” in September and ends with “Just in Time” in July 2027.

Here’s a look at the shows and when they’ll run at the Durham Performing Arts Center:

  • “Buena Vista Social Club” — Sept. 22-27, 2026
  • “Maybe Happy Ending” — Oct. 13-18, 2026
  • “Death Becomes Her” — Nov. 10-15, 2026
  • “The Bodyguard” — Dec. 8-13, 2026
  • “Wicked” — March 31-April 18, 2027
  • “Operation Mincemeat” — May 11-16, 2027
  • “Phantom of the Opera” — May 26-June 6, 2027
  • “Just in Time” — July 13-18, 2027

Several of the DPAC shows on the schedule launched in 2025. Of note:

“Maybe Happy Ending” was a big winner at the 2025 Tony Awards with six awards, including Best Musical. It tells the story of two “human-like helper-bots” who meet and fall in love while exploring situations normally experienced by flesh-and-blood couples.

“Operation Mincemeat” was ranked the No. 1 Broadway show of 2025 by Entertainment Weekly. It won the Laurence Olivier Award (the UK equivalent of the Tony) for Best Musical.

“Just in Time” is a musical about the life and career of singer Bobby Darin, and features classic hits like “Mack the Knife” and “Beyond the Sea.”
