One of Raleigh’s best burger joints is closing after 12 years in business
A popular Raleigh restaurant with one of the city’s best patios will close in March after more than a decade in business.
The Station, a casual Person Street restaurant with a serious burger, will close March 8. The restaurant’s owners, The Hibernian Group, announced the closing on social media this week, saying The Station will have two more big weekends before it closes for good.
“For more than a decade, The Station has been a place for first dates, post-game burgers, family dinners, late night laughs, and familiar faces at the bar,” the owners said. “This neighborhood has shaped us just as much as we’ve served it, and we are deeply grateful for every single guest who has walked through our doors.”
Hibernian owner Niall Hanley said a full restaurant renovation will begin on March 9. A new concept with a new name will move into the space, but he declined to reveal details for now.
The Station first opened in 2014 and is best known for its large and breezy patio looking out on Person Street. In 2021, readers of The News & Observer named The Station as one of the best burgers in Raleigh.
The blocks around The Station have grown into a foodie district in Raleigh, with popular spots like Crawford & Son, Oakwood Pizza Box, Standard Beer and Two Roosters all close together.
Of the new concept, Hanley said it will be designed with the Oakwood neighborhood in mind.
“This is not goodbye,” The Station owners said. “We are closing for a full renovation and will be returning with a new concept designed with this neighborhood in mind. We cannot wait to welcome you back into a refreshed space with something we truly believe you are going to love.”
