Update: Durham police charge teen in fatal Eva Street shooting, release name of victim

A man was fatally shot on Friday night in Durham and police on Saturday announced the arrest of the alleged killer, Diamonte Porter.

Porter, 19, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Markis Perry, 17.

Durham police were called to the shooting in the 700 block of Eva Street near Railroad Street shortly after 9 p.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, the officers found Perry, who had been shot. Perry was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
