The 2023 Stadium Series outdoor game weekend keeps adding events, getting bigger.

The Stadium Series game matching the Carolina Hurricanes against the Washington Capitals on Saturday, Feb. 18 is the centerpiece. The game, at N.C. State’s Carter-Finley Stadium, will be Carolina’s first outdoor game and was a quick sellout.

The Hurricanes announced Tuesday that they also would host their 10th Alumni Game on Monday, Feb. 20, at Carter-Finley Stadium.

Another recent addition: N.C. State’s Icepack will face North Carolina on Monday at 7 p.m. in what’s being called the “Frozen Finley” college hockey game.

Already scheduled is N.C. State hosting North Carolina Sunday in men’s basketball at PNC Arena. That ACC game will have a 1 p.m. start.

The weekend begins with Fan Fest activities in downtown Raleigh on Friday. On Friday night, a Hootie and the Blowfish concert will be held ay PNC Arena.

The Canes’ Alumni Game, which will have Rod Brind’Amour and Justin Williams serving as team captains, will start at 4 p.m. Sunday. No tickets are required for fans, but the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation will accept optional donations at the gates.

Teams will be captained by Rod Brind’Amour and Justin Williams, and participating Canes alumni include Bates Battaglia, Jesse Boulerice, Tim Brent, Erik Cole, Mike Commodore, Jeff Daniels, Tim Gleason, Sean Hill, Chad LaRose, Steve Rice, Aaron Ward, Cam Ward and Shane Willis.

A limited number of roster spots are available for fans interested in playing. Players must be at least 18 years old and have hockey-playing experience. The entry fee is $5,000.
