Green Hope claimed three N.C. High School Athletic Association state championships on the same day. To go with its volleyball championship, it avenged last year’s title match loss in girls’ tennis and won the crown in boys’ cross country.

The Falcons were joined by several fellow Triangle state champions in those two sports: Chapel Hill, Cardinal Gibbons and Franklin Academy in girls’ cross country and Raleigh Charter in girls’ tennis.

East Chapel Hill’s girls tennis team was runner-up.

4A: Green Hope won the school’s first girls’ tennis state championship with a 5-3 victory over Myers Park (24-1) in a rematch of last year’s title match. The Falcons (17-0) led 4-2 after singles thanks to No. 2 Anna Rico, No. 3 Sophia Gray, No. 5 Rindha Sudhnni and No. 6 Reilly Major. The match was clinched after the No. 1 doubles duo of Rico and Katie Andreini won.
