Want to watch the NC State, North Carolina football game on TV? Here’s how to find it
It’s the rubber match for both Dave Doeren and Mack Brown on Friday at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Under Doeren, No. 24 N.C. State is 4-4 against rival North Carolina. Mack Brown, head coach at UNC, is 7-7 all-time against the Wolfpack.
The Tar Heels (6-5, 3-4) had national title aspirations to start the season, and now they won’t even win their division. What’s driving UNC in the finale is a chance to ruin so much for N.C. State.
The Pack (8-3, 5-2) is shooting for an undefeated record at home for the first time since 1986, a third nine-win season under Doeren and an outside chance of a trip to the ACC title game. All that goes down the drain if Sam Howell and the Tar Heels win their third straight in the series.
“We haven’t played well against them in two years,” Doeren told the media on Monday. “There’s a lot of reasons for us to try to win this football game. I know our guys are going to give everything they have. They had a great look in their eye yesterday (Sunday), and I expect a really good week of practice and preparation.”
The road team has won six of the last eight games in this rivalry. Brown is 23-1 in his last 24 games against in-state ACC opponents.
UNC has outscored the Pack 89-31 the last two games, including a 31-point win two years ago in Raleigh.
“We need to play better against them,” Doeren said. “We need to practice better, need to prepare better, need to coach better. All of those things. There’s a good demeanor right now with this football team for this game.”
The UNC and N.C. State game will be played on ESPN.
