NFL draft recap: Here are the NC players picked in rounds 2-3
Five players out of North Carolina colleges had their name called on the second day of the 2018 NFL Draft on Friday, including a pair of linemen from N.C. State.
That leaves about a dozen local players still on the selection radar for rounds 4-7, on the final day of the draft on Saturday.

Here are some of the highlights from draft rounds 2-3.
Giants, Chargers draft Wolfpack defensive linemen
San Diego drafted former N.C. State lineman Justin Jones, a 6-foot-3, 309-pound defensive tackle, as the 84th overall pick
The New York Giants took another N.C. State big man, 6-foot-3, 311-pound defensive tackle B.J. Hill.
Hill went fifth in the third round, the 69th overall pick.
Raiders take a N.C. A&T offensive lineman
With the first pick of the third round, the 65th overall pick, the Oakland Raiders chose Brandon Parker, an offensive tackle from N.C. A&T State.
UNC, Wake Forest players go back-to-back
Cincinnati selected former Wake Forest defensive back Jessie Bates as the 54th overall pick, in the second round.
Former UNC cornerback M.J. Stewart was the first local player to be drafted Friday, as the 53rd overall pick in the 2rd round, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Stewart passed on the chance to enter the NFL draft last spring, to return for his senior season with the Tar Heels.
Thick skin required to host draft
Dallas fans were reminded early in Friday's draft of the consequences of hosting the event.
Several former NFL star players announcing selections jabbed at the Cowboys, some more blatant than others.
Former kicker David Akers, announcing the 49th over pick, made it clear the Cowboys’ NFC East rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, are reigning “world champs.”
“Hey Dallas, the last time you were in a Super Bowl, these draft picks weren’t born,” Akers shouted into the microphone.
