NBA Fans Accused Refs Of 'Rigging' Game 2 For Knicks vs. Spurs
Tony Brothers and the officiating crew assigned to Game 2 of the NBA Finals may want to stay off social media for the next few days.
During the first half of Game 2, Spurs guard De'Aaron Fox got away with a blatant double dribble. As if that wasn't bad enough, the refs gave Mitchell Robinson a technical foul after he was involved in a shoving match with Victor Wembanyama. The All-Star from France wasn't penalized for his behavior.
Things got a bit worse in the third quarter, as Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns was on the wrong end of two very controversial foul calls.
With all that being said, NBA fans aired out their complaints about the refs on social media.
"No one is going to talk about how the refs are clearly cheating the @NBA is definitely rigged there's no way that Spurs is allowed to get away with all those calls," one fan wrote on X.
"The refs in this @nyknicks vs @spurs game should be fired. Ticky tack calls going one way towards San Antonio," a second fan said. "The Knicks are getting pummeled and no call. @nba at least try harder to not look rigged."
"These refs are ridiculous. They want the Spurs to win," another fan commented. "You can't tell me the NBA isn't rigged man."
NBA officiating has been under fire all postseason.
Just a week ago, the NBA was accused of rigging games in the Oklahoma City Thunder's favor. Even Spurs star Stephon Castle voiced his concerns about certain calls.
"Trying to play through it is tough. I just think the way they guard, how physical they are, we don't get that same luxury to be able to play as physical on the other end at times," Castle told reporters, via Bleacher Report. "Offensively, I think we do a good job of screening and playing through it. I think we create a lot of advantages, but I think we missed a lot of open shots tonight."
Fast forward to this Friday, and the Spurs are the ones apparently benefitting from awful officiating.
Hopefully, the NBA's officials are a bit more consistent in Game 3 on Monday night.
