Padres Announce Brutal Ramón Laureano Injury News
The San Diego Padres will most likely be without their starting left fielder for the rest of the season.
Annie Heilbrunn of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that outfielder Ramón Laureano underwent right hip surgery to repair a labrum, likely ending his first full season in San Diego. Heilbrunn also noted that Laureano's expected timetable would be four to five months.

Laureano was initially placed on the 10-day injured list with hip inflammation on Tuesday but will now be transferred to the 60-day IL, likely ending his 2026 campaign.
The Padres acquired the 31-year-old from the Baltimore Orioles during last year's trade deadline in a deal that also sent first baseman Ryan O'Hearn to San Diego. Despite tying his career-high with 24 home runs last season, including nine in 50 games for the Padres, Laureano was off to a slow start in 2026.
In 53 games this year, the outfielder slashed just .203/.286/.374 with seven home runs, 21 RBI and an OPS of .660. Laureano will also be a free agent after the season.
The Padres will now prepare for life after Laureano, which comes at a poor time for the ballclub. They have lost a season-high five straight games and are also coming off getting swept by the Philadelphia Phillies.
San Diego's offense has been one of Major League Baseball's most disappointing teams this season. They rank dead last in both batting average (.216) and on-base percentage (.291), and are 29th in slugging percentage (.359).
The Padres return home Friday to begin a three-game series with the New York Mets. They will hope to right the ship against the last place 27-35 Mets.
