Corey Day will be manning the wheel of the No. 7 Hendricks.com Patriotic Chevrolet on Friday during NASCAR’s Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 20-year-old driver was announced as the late Kyle Busch’s replacement driver prior to the NASCAR legend’s death on Thursday. Spire Motorsports announced the change after Busch’s family released a statement that Busch had been hospitalized with a severe illness on Thursday morning. The family, in a joint statement with Richard Childress Racing, announced Busch’s death roughly seven hours later.

With Day taking Busch’s place in the Truck Series, Austin Hill will take the wheel as Busch’s replacement in the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday.

Day, though, will be the first to hit the track as NASCAR’s big weekend in Charlotte begins with the racing community mourning one of its icons.
