A report was issued from the NWS Wakefield VA on Friday at 6:50 p.m. for fire danger until Saturday at 6 a.m. The alert is for Western Currituck and Eastern Currituck as well as Hertford, Gates, Pasquotank, Camden, Bertie, Chowan and Perquimans counties.

"Dry, hot, and breezy conditions are expected Saturday. The ongoing drought has led to abnormally dry dead surface fuels across the region. Min RH values of 25 to 35%, wind gusts to around 20 mph, and afternoon high temperatures mainly into the 90s will lead to increased fire danger from mid morning through early evening Saturday. Conditions Sunday may be similar ahead of an approaching cold front, with an additional Increased Fire Danger statement likely to be issued," describes the NWS.

This alert is in effect until Saturday at 6 a.m.
