A report from the NWS Wilmington NC was issued on Friday at 1:46 p.m. for fire danger until Saturday at 7 p.m. The alert is for Inland Pender, Coastal Pender, Inland New Hanover, Coastal New Hanover, Inland Brunswick and Coastal Brunswick as well as Robeson, Bladen and Columbus counties.

"The combination of dry fuels, near critical low relative humidity, and gusty winds will lead to increased fire danger conditions during Saturday across southeast North Carolina. Relative humidity values are expected to drop to 25 to 35% during the afternoon, with the lowest humidities across inland areas. In addition, southwesterly winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 15 to 20 mph are expected, with the highest winds along the coastal areas," according to the NWS.

The NWS comments, "Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities to review the status of any burn bans."
