The NWS Morristown TN issued a weather alert at 8:17 a.m. on Monday for fire danger until 8 p.m. for Cherokee and Clay counties.
"With good mixing this afternoon, relative humidity values will get down into the upper 20s. Northwesterly winds will gust around 20 mph. With dry fuels in place, fire danger will be elevated this afternoon and early evening. A statewide burn ban remains in effect until further notice for North Carolina," describes the NWS.
This alert is in effect until 8 p.m.
