Rain and storms may dampen some Easter weekend plans in the Triangle.
A cold front will bring some showers and storms on Sunday, April 5, after a week of dry weather, said Mike Strickler, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
“The timing of (the front) is a little in question,” he said. “We’re not sure if it will come through earlier in the afternoon or a little bit later in the evening.”
Easter egg hunts and church services in the morning should be spared any bad weather.
“Even with the faster timing of the front, I think most of the morning around here would likely be dry,” Strickler said. “And then it’s just a matter of if it’s going to be earlier in the afternoon or later in the evening with the timing of those showers and storms.”
The timeline of potential storms and rain will firm up likely on Friday, he said.
Triangle television stations, including CBS17 and ABC11, are forecasting temperatures to remain in the low- to mid-80s before the temperature will drop on Sunday with the cold front. Next week, metrologists are projecting temperatures in the 60s.
