Which Triangle grocery stores & businesses are closed for winter weather? Here’s a list

The Triangle is expected to get snow for the first time in nearly three years, and it is disrupting business as usual.

Wake County, Orange County, Chatham County, Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Johnston County school systems are dismissing early Friday, Jan. 10, Durham Public Schools are closed Jan. 10. Durham’s trash collections scheduled for Saturday are postponed to Monday, Jan. 13.

While some may be planning to stay at home, others may be planning to venture out.

If you’re trying to visit any stores, make sure they’re open before you head out.

Use this list, which will be updated, to check which businesses are closing or modifying their hours due to the weather. (Looking for restaurants that are closed? Here’s a list.)

Grocery & retail store snow hours

  • Weaver Street Market is anticipating a late opening (around 10 a.m.) Saturday, Jan. 11. The grocery store has four Triangle locations, in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough.
  • All Uniquities boutique locations will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 10 and are expected to reopen at 11 a.m. Jan. 11.

  • All Triangle Rock Club locations will close at 8 p.m. Jan. 10 and reopen at noon Jan. 11.

  • Beatniks at Raleigh Iron Works is closing at 5 p.m. Jan. 10.

  • Wake County ABC stores will close at 6 p.m. Jan. 10.

  • Orange County ABC stores will close at 6 p.m. Jan. 10 and reopen at 11 a.m. Jan. 11.

  • Quail Ridge Books will close at 3 p.m. Jan. 10.

  • Barnes & Noble at Village District will close at 6 p.m. Jan. 10.

Triangle snow closures & hours

  • The Chapel Hill Public Library is closing at 4 p.m. Jan. 10 and opening at noon Jan. 11.
  • Raleigh Parks operations are closed from 5 p.m. Jan. 10 until noon Jan. 11. GoRaleigh’s R-Line service will be suspended at midnight Jan. 10.

  • All Garner town facilities will close at 3 p.m. Jan. 10 and remain closed through Jan. 11. All programming is canceled the evening of Jan. 10 through Jan. 11. Parks are closed Jan. 11 until crews determine they are safe to reopen.

  • On Jan. 10, Morrisville’s Smart Shuttle will end operations at 1 p.m., and its parks, recreation and cultural resources facilities will close at 3 p.m.

  • On Jan. 11, the Cedar Creek Fork Community Center is closed, and athletics programming is canceled in Morrisville. The Morrisville Community Library will tentatively open 12-5 p.m. Jan. 11, and its Smart Shuttle will tentatively operate 12-6 p.m. Jan. 11.

  • The Athens Drive Community Library is closed Jan. 10, and all other Wake County facilities will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 10.

  • On Jan. 11, Wake County Public Libraries are open 12-5 p.m., but the Athens Drive Community Library will be closed; the Wake County Animal Center is open 2-4 p.m., and Wake County parks and preserves are closed.

  • On Jan. 12, Wake County Public Libraries are open 1-5 p.m., the Wake County Animal Center is open 2-4 p.m., and Wake County parks and preserves are closed.

  • The Community Family Life & Recreation Center at Lyon Park will close at 4 p.m. Jan. 10 and stay closed Jan. 11. All City of Durham fields will be closed Jan. 10-12.

Are Triangle malls open?

  • Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh will close at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10, general manager Debora Overholt said in an emailed statement. Department and restaurant hours may vary. The mall will open at 11 a.m. Jan. 11.
  • Fenton in Cary will remain open, but individual retailers may close due to inclement weather.

Event cancellations

  • Gov. Josh Stein’s inaugural ceremony and related events have been canceled, The News & Observer reported.

  • The North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival at Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre is closed Jan. 10. All tickets purchased for Jan. 10 will be valid Jan. 11 or Jan. 12, and ticket holders do not need to contact the festival for an exchange. Anyone with a ticket purchased for Jan. 10 who can’t attend another date will receive a refund the week of Monday, Jan. 13.
  • The Holly Springs Police Shred-a-Thon and the Holly Springs Farmers Market are canceled Jan. 11.
  • The Apex Farmers Market is closed Jan. 11.
  • The Western Wake Farmers Market is canceled Jan. 11.
  • The blood drive and MLK: Remembering the Legacy Through the Arts events scheduled for Jan. 11 at the W.D. Hill Recreation Center in Durham are canceled.
