Motorcycle rider killed Friday night when his Harley left the roadway in Durham

A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash in Durham Friday.

A man died in Durham Friday night in a fatal motorcycle accident on Fayetteville Street.

Phillip Ray Hargis, 56, of Durham, was driving a a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Fayetteville Street when it left roadway right and struck a curb, traveled onto the sidewalk and re-entered the roadway, according to a news release from the Durham police.

Hargis was thrown from the motorcycle and was declared dead on the scene, police said.

The police are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact Investigator J.D. Colquitt at 919-560-4935 x29450.
