‘Life-changing’ ticket brings South Carolina lottery player’s boyfriend to his knees

It was an outcome one South Carolina woman wasn’t expecting when she bought a $5 lottery ticket.

That’s because she won $200,000 after scratching the lucky ticket while hanging out with friends, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“It was wild!” the winner, whose name wasn’t shared publicly, told lottery officials in a Tuesday news release. “I stayed calm, probably because I was in shock.”

Her boyfriend, meanwhile, “fell to his knees in praise,” the lottery service said. Her best friend jumped up and down screaming.

She never thought that a ticket she paid so little for at the President Market at 208 President St. in Charleston would afford her a new car and a down payment on a house.

“It’s life changing,” she said in the news release.

Three top prizes of $200,000 are left in the $5 Triple Red 777s game — with odds of winning a top prize 1 in 750,000.

The seller of the ticket received a commission of $2,000, lottery officials said.

The South Carolina woman wasn’t the only one in disbelief after a big lottery win.

A South Carolina man lost his appetite after ordering a pizza ― but not for the reason you may think.

The winner had just won $300,000 from a $10 scratch-off ticket, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“I couldn’t eat pizza after that,” he said.
