Search for runaway Richland County teen ends, sheriff’s department says

The search for a missing teenage girl ended Saturday, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said.

Carly Sederbaum was found safe in Port Royal, South Carolina, the sheriff’s department said.

Information on how Carly got about 150 miles from home, and if she was alone, was not available.

The 14-year-old ran away from her home in the Chapin area shortly before 11 p.m., on Wednesday and had not been heard from before being found Saturday, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Carly’s family is new to the Columbia area, and Carly has no known friends in Richland County, the sheriff’s department said.

Information on why she left home was not made available.

There was concern for Carly because she left without taking the medications she depends on, according to the release.
