Memorial service date is set for Faye Swetlik. Here’s where and when.
A public memorial service for Faye Swetlik, the 6-year-old girl whose body was found last week, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce.
The announcement was made in an obituary posted by Caughman-Harman Funeral Home. The funeral home also has said that all expenses for Faye’s service and burial have been covered.
Trinity Baptist is the same church where law enforcement officials conducted press briefings on her disappearance and death last week.
Faye’s body was found Thursday near her Cayce home in the Churchill Heights neighborhood.
Results of an autopsy will be released Tuesday.
Her death is considered a homicide and has been linked to the death of Coty Taylor, a 30-year-old neighbor whose body was also found Thursday in the same neighborhood.
Police said they found evidence in Taylor’s trash can that linked him to Faye’s death.
Faye was reported missing on the afternoon of Feb. 10. She was last seen at about 3:45 p.m. playing in the yard of her mother’s house. Her body was found Thursday morning.
Taylor lived in a home about 100 to 150 feet from Faye’s home, police said. Taylor was not a relative or friend of Faye or her family. Taylor had no criminal record and “was not known to law enforcement.”
