As “The Hunting Wives” returns to its trouble-stirred universe, a familiar figure from the sitcom world is poised to enter the frame.

Netflix renewed the show for a second season in September, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.

The series, based on May Cobb’s novel, follows Sophie O’Neill, portrayed by Brittany Snow, as she gets pulled into the dangerous world of glamorous socialite Margo Banks, played by Malin Akerman. Released July 21 exclusively in the U.S., the show still drew over 20 million views within its first five weeks, according to a news release from Netflix.

John Stamos, known for iconic roles in shows like “Full House” and “Palm Royale,” will appear as Chase Brylan, joining fellow newcomers Dale Dickey and Cam Gigandet in recurring roles, Variety reported.

What is ‘The Hunting Wives’ about?

Season one’s blend of Southern charm, small-town intrigue and murder-mystery theatrics kept audiences glued to the screen — all while spotlighting familiar corners of the Charlotte region.

Local landmarks such as Coyote Joe’s, Dilworth Tasting Room, The Park Church and Lake Norman stood in for the fictional town of Maple Brook, Texas, CharlotteFive reported. Much of downtown Mooresville also appeared throughout the series, giving the show a distinctly local backdrop.

Showrunner, writer and executive producer Rebecca Cutter said she’s eager to return to that world.

“I’m so excited to write these amazing characters again, and I can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, bat**** crazy ride through Maple Brook,” she said in a news release.

Season 2 date

CharlotteFive reached out to Netflix to confirm whether the second season will be filmed in the Charlotte area, but a representative did not immediately respond.

A premiere date for the second season has not yet been announced, either.
