The man who was stabbed on a Charlotte light rail train Friday said he has a tube running from his chest to a machine as he recovers in the hospital.

That machine is pumping blood out of his lungs, he said.

“i am the second victim of the BLUE LINE stabbing,” Kenyon Dobie wrote on a GoFundMe page he started. “Luckily I survived but my body has taken plenty damage.”

Dobie was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition after he was stabbed.

The stabbing occurred Friday at 4:49 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Brevard Street.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested 33-year-old Oscar Solarzano after he was accused of stabbing Dobie with “large fixed blade knife,” according to an arrest warrant.

Solarzano was charged with felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and breaking into a vehicle, and misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed weapon and intoxicated and disruptive behavior, according to the warrant.

He is in the country illegally from Honduras and was previously removed twice, according to court records filed in Mecklenburg County and a statement by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

At a first appearance for the suspect in Mecklenburg District Court on Monday, a prosecutor said he yelled at a passenger and had been drinking alcohol before the stabbing.

Dobie posted an image of himself from his hospital bed, smiling with music in the background on TikTok. In another, Dobie said that his side of the story would be “coming soon.”

The stabbing, which came less than four months after the fatal stabbing of Iryna Zarutska on a light rail train, gained national attention. President Donald Trump weighed in on social media on Saturday.

“Another stabbing by an Illegal Migrant in Charlotte, North Carolina. What’s going on in Charlotte? Democrats are destroying it, like everything else, piece by piece!!!,” Trump wrote. (The man charged with stabbing Zarutska in August is a U.S. citizen).

Solarzano is being held without bond in the Mecklenburg County jail.
