Tire store employees accused of robbing their delivery truck driver, NC cops say
A pair of tire store employees are accused of pulling a gun on one of their delivery truck drivers and robbing him in the parking lot, according to North Carolina investigators.
The “disturbance” happened Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Highway Tire Auto & Lube in Sherrills Ford, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said in a Nov. 5 news release.
“An alleged dispute occurred at this business between employees and a vendor. During that incident these two employees allegedly assaulted the vendor and discharged a firearm into the delivery vehicle,” the sheriff’s office said.
“These two employees are alleged to have taken property belonging to the vendor and prevented him from leaving.”
Details of what prompted the dispute were not released, and the sheriff’s office did not report the driver was injured.
The store’s website reports it is owned and managed by the Anderson family.
Store employee Eric Taylor Anderson, 26, was arrested and charged with:
• Shooting into occupied property
• Robbery with a dangerous weapon
• Second-degree kidnapping
• Conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon
• Assault by pointing a gun
Store co-owner Scott Eric Anderson, 57, was arrested and charged with:
• Robbery with a dangerous weapon
• Second-degree kidnapping
• Conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon
Bond was set at $200,000 for Eric Anderson and $75,000 for Scott Anderson, officials said.
Sherrills Ford is about a 40-mile drive north from uptown Charlotte.
