An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a Taco Bell employee in the Indian Trail area near Charlotte, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office in Monroe, North Carolina.

The victim, 23-year-old Dantreveion Hobbs, died at the scene, officials said.

The shooting happened around 8:50 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at the Taco Bell on U.S. 74 near the Indian Trail/Fairview Road intersection in Indian Trail, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators say the gunman fled and was later identified as 22-year-old Gilecio Ritchie with the help of witnesses.

“At approximately 6:45 p.m. on October 14 ... detectives took Ritchie into custody without incident at his home in Indian Trail,” the sheriff’s office said. “A local Magistrate ordered that Ritchie be held without bond, and he is not eligible for release.”

Ritchie has been charged with first degree murder, the sheriff’s office said.

Details of a motive have not been released and investigators have not said if the two men knew each other.

Taco Bell stays open until 2 a.m. during the week, according to the company’s website.

Indian Trail is about a 15-mile drive southeast from uptown Charlotte.
